The perfect timing to take action is immediately! This is true for planning or actually escaping narcissistic abuse, or following inspiration(s) to do something creative as a result of being shattered by intense life transitions such as abuse. These items AND everything else are important to take action on as soon as you become able.
Guaranteed your action will not be perfect.
Absolutely your action(s) should achieve the goal of safety…this is paramount. That said inspiration walks hand in hand for you to move forward with your life and achieve sanity.
As you shift to survival more than escape, you ideally will begin to fight for your OWN well-being, this often includes court orders around real estate. Bringing this up, because my advocacy for your escape lives here.
Providing tough love and deep compassion are the only tools available to stay neutral and walk next to you.
Often the wounds are SO DEEP you are actually fighting for your sanity and breaking free from the sensations of anxiety, overwhelm and apathy. Hopefully you have a trauma-based therapist. It may take you a minute to find enough strength to shatter your escapee mentality and pick yourself up to take action for your life. The MAD team is here for you!

The fact remains you can choose to flounder around in the broken you for the rest of your life OR you can begin to splash in the pool of creative life. Rejoicing that you are alive is a powerful new base note to build from AND often beautifully messy.
As you reflect back to the abuse, escape and sometimes DVPO process, no one gave you a guarantee that you would live through this. No one! That was in your/my imagination, as we couldn’t imagine this trauma being SO real, that we might not make it. It also was NOT discussed. Acknowledging this is where the survive aspect is engaged as this will become clear, in time. This unfortunately can also be seen in elder abuse scenarios.
All you can do is take a deep breath and take your next step. You know this! You’ve got this!
Taking Action
The unfortunate mainstay of this process is taking on an intense real estate project while you are shattered, mentally/emotionally and intuitively in chaos, thoroughly exhausted and broken.
You need a dedicated someone to walk next to you to translate and point to the grandstands of your future. Someone with a good heart, deep skill set, AND paid to dedicate their good time to the project.
Re-creating your NEW life ONLY as you want it, is the gift of magic that you have been given by your abuser. You heard me! This is a long and painful process to find the parting gift. To achieve any of this, action is required by you. This likely goes against everything you want to believe or that has been candy coated for you. Without EVERYTHING breaking in your world, you would not have the opportunity to rebuild everything. You would not go through the pain to strip out the old and then build a whole new world.
I believe we can all make lemonade out of life’s lemons. The above statement may sting, but is meant for perspective… No judgment of your process.
